There's a famous saying that goes, "You are what you eat" and it doesn't just pertain to how we look. Having a proper diet is vital to our health in many ways. The types of food we consume affect not just our digestion and physique, but the rest of our body as well, including our skin and even our reproductive system.
There is still a lot about feminine hygiene and personal care that we may not know about, one of which is that our diet can actually affect the odor of our intimate area. For instance, an interview by Bustle with an ob-gyn points out that eating onion doesn't only contribute to bad breath but can also lead to vaginal odor.
Eating certain foods or drinking certain beverages may also affect the pH level of our intimate areas, and therefore change how it smells. Some of them are actually a staple in many people's diets. A few examples include asparagus, spices, sugar, dairy products, and--unfortunately--caffeine. Consuming these products may contribute to an unpleasant vaginal odor. Cutting back or consuming a regular amount may help keep the normal pH level of our intimate areas and prevent foul smell.
Of course, not everyone can afford to slow down on the likes of coffee or dairy, especially if their everyday lifestyle relies heavily on these. If reducing your intake can't be helped, using a feminine care product that specifically maintains your pH level is another option (In case you're curious, the ideal pH balance of the vaginal area is between 4.5 to 5.5). On the other hand, there are also feminine care products that protects against odor without harming your intimate areas.
