Why It's Totally Okay To Feel #FOMO Sometimes
Social media is, without a doubt, one of the most influential platforms today, especially for us teens. Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook are just a few forms of the ever-evolving world that is social media. With so many people being able to post and share content online at any second of the day, we can sometimes experience something called FOMO—or the "fear of missing out."
Have you ever opened a Snapchat story or seen an Instagram post and thought, "Wow, I wish I was there"? Well, you're not alone. It's times like these that can definitely cause some of us to feel somewhat lonely and even jealous. Especially when we're at home doing close to nothing.
Despite this, it's still important to know that not everyone is able to attend every single event that's posted online. You pick and choose what to post, therefore it should be understood that, most of the time, it'll be the highlights shared. Everyone experiences FOMO once in a while. This isn't to say that social media should be stopped, obviously. Instead, just remember that FOMO is completely normal and we can easily focus on other things we do have, rather than what we're missing out on.
