That annual post-finals get-together with your group of friends is usually a good way to officially kick off the holiday season. But since face-to-face classes did not happen this semester and you can't drop by your usual tambayan with friends, perhaps an online event might do.
You've been getting by with the regular Zoom kumustahan, but here are other ways to spice it up and make the holidays extra ~special~ for your friend group:
Netflix party
Everybody loves a good Netflix binge-watch sesh, so why not do it all together for your holiday hangout? Watch a series of holiday films or play your barkada's favorite K-drama for a change. Here's how you can set it up.
Kris Kringle
Who said you'll have to forego exchanging gifts since you won't see each other personally anyway? There are still ways to send each other gifts (or even care packages) for Christmas. Have your mini present delivered on the day of your online get-together and open your gifts one by one via Zoom, just like you would if you were all physically in one room.

IG Story templates
If you're friend group is particularly active on social media, then you don't all have to be present in one Zoom meeting to show some holiday love, nor do you have to be giving material gifts to each other. If you know a bit of Photoshop or Canva, make your own Instagram Story template specifically for your barkada's kris kringle with a twist. In the traditional manner, draw names among yourselves, but instead of giving that person an actual gift, you have to make an IG Story specifically for them.Â

The IG Story template can contain questions about what you appreciate or miss about that person, what you'd like as a present from them if ever, which artista you'd match them with, plus other personalized and funny details. Â
Houseparty
Houseparty is one of the fastest growing apps during the pandemic. It's like a series of chat rooms, just like your usual Zoom calls. But through the app, you and your friends can play different kinds of games and trivia together in the app itself. It's a fun way to bring back the good old times you used to spend with the barkada. The app is available on iOS, Android, and desktop.
Card games used to be a fun activity during Christmas parties, which could get pretty loud depending on how intense your chosen card game could get. Luckily, popular ones (like Uno!) have online versions, so you could continue the tradition of playing together virtually. Cards Against Humanity also has a free printable version on their official website so you can play it at home.
Virtual escape room
Escape rooms like Mystery Manila were always a good way to hang out and test your friendships. Good news is that they have also transitioned to a digital space! You can book a session (done via Zoom!) with your friends just in time for your designated online get-together.
