Upgrade Your Kikay Kit and Wardrobe in 6 Easy Steps

Aside from learning new things and seeing your classmates again, we're sure you're also excited to show everyone how much you've changed over the summer—from the way you dress to your stronger makeup game. But if you're still in the process of experimenting with your look and have no clue what to shop for, we've got you covered. Here are six easy steps to get you, your kikay kit, and your wardrobe ready for the school year:

1. Do a closet inventory.

Sometimes, we end up buying two or three items of the same kind just because we forgot we already have one in our closets. Doing a quick inventory will not only make it easier for you to keep track of your belongings, but it will also save you from unnecessary spending.

Let's start off with footwear, shall we? We all know that there are six basic pairs of shoes every college girl needs to have—sandals, sneakers, D'Orsay flats, ballet flats, slip-ons, and heels. Check if you already have all these six and if they still fit you perfectly. If not, then it's time to hit the mall.

2. Make a shopping list.

Aside from shoes, also include a bag on your list—one that is spacious enough to fit your laptop, gym clothes, books, baon, and other school essentials. We recommend a backpack or a messenger bag—both of which are a breeze to carry around all day long.

3. Shop for workwear clothes.

Every college girl should have at least one crisp blazer in her closet. Trust us, you will need it for your internship interview, thesis defense, and other school presentations. Go with a black one to make mixing and matching a lot easier. You can also add a pencil skirt, a white button-down, or a pair of structured pants if you still have extra budget.

4. Add in a few statement pieces, too!

Like painterly tops, asymmetric skirts, and mesh tees. Sport these during an org party, and you'll surely turn heads! Just take into consideration your school's dress code, as some are stricter than others. (Remember: You want to turn heads, not shake heads.)

5. Don't forget to accessorize.

If there's an accessory every college girl should swear by, it's a stylish wristwatch. It'll not only add oomph to your look, but will also remind you when it's time to get running.

On the other hand, if you're a four-eyed beauty, we're sure your go-to accessory will always be a pair of specs. Give conventional designs a break, and go for a clubmaster, cat eye, or wayfarer.

6. How about your beauty essentials?

Before you go shopping for skincare products and makeup, check your beauty kit first to see what you already have, their expiration dates, and what you still need. If you're a little low on budget, just stick to the basics—BB cream, concealer, blush, brow pencil, mascara, and a tinted lip balm or your go-to lipstick—and slowly build your kikay kit from there.
