The University of the Philippines on Thursday said it would return to 100% face-to-face classes in the second semester of academic year 2022-2023 as the country's education sector gradually returns to its pre-pandemic operations.
In an advisory on Facebook, UP said full face-to-face classes would be implemented initially in all undergraduate courses. The learning delivery mode in the graduate program is still being finalized, it added.
"This is complementary to the university’s adoption of hybrid and blended learning to equip students for the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and achieve educational resilience in a volatile and rapidly changing world," UP said.
UP is currently implementing blended learning delivery modes for the first semester of the current academic year, where classes are held either face-to-face, purely online, or a mix of both.
Full face-to-face classes are also being held for laboratory, studio, and practicum courses, and all courses in some of its constituent universities in the current semester.
UP Manila, the university's health sciences center, also began holding 100% face-to-face classes for medicine and other related courses as early as July last year.
The university earlier announced that the UP College Admission Test will again be held for incoming freshmen for the academic year 2024-2025.
The entrance test will remain suspended for the academic year 2023-2024, for which freshman applicants will be screened based on their high school performance through a virtual application process.
