Excellent volunteer and research opportunities are offered by the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), a private Catholic institution of basic and higher education. The university aims to build partnerships on a national and international scale. UIC also supports researcher and student mobility, which results in graduates who are responsible citizens. The campus is located in Davao City and Davao del Sur.

Here’s a quick overview of University of the Immaculate Conception:

History of University of the Immaculate Conception

The first group of indigenous women to unite during the Hispanic colonial period, the Beaterio dela Compaia, founded the University of the Immaculate Conception. This indigenous women's organization has grown over time and is now known as the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM). It has expanded through its various ministries, particularly in the field of education.

In 1902, the late Rev. M. Maria Efigenia Alvarez sent three Sisters to Davao City, beginning the RVM's mission in Mindanao. The Sisters were M. Severina Santos, M. Clara Ramirez, and M. Engracia Herrera. They transformed the house given by Mrs. Sinforosa Bangoy vda. de Joven into a dorm and classrooms. When enrollment grew in 1906, classroom space was made available in Mr. Cenon Rasay's home near the San Pedro-Anda intersection.

In 1934, Immaculate Conception Academy was the name given to the high school when it first opened. By the time the first class of high school graduates received their diplomas in 1938, the institution had changed its name to "Immaculate Conception Institute."

The school was closed in 1941 as World War II began, and it was reopened in 1945. The grade school and high school departments were moved to ICC's new site at Fr. Selga St. in 1969, and the College Department followed in 1971. A year later, the school was renamed "Immaculate Conception College.”

In 1993, the institution established the Computer Center, paving the way for the university's registration and cashiering systems to be automated, committing their leadership in science and technology to the community. The Science Resource Center (SRC), a full-service laboratory, was founded in 1994 to offer technical support and training on advanced laboratory testing equipment to science instructors and students.
