The University of Southeastern Philippines is a regional state university in the Philippines with its main campus in Davao City, Davao del Sur. It is also known as Kinatumhaan sa Habagatan Sidlakang Pilipinas in Cebu and Pamantasan ng Timog-Silangang Pilipinas in Filipino.

History of University of Southeastern Philippines

The University of Southeastern Philippines was established by Batas Pambansa Bilang 12 on December 15, 1978. The university was founded with the intention of providing courses and specialized training in the scientific and technological fields of business, engineering, medicine, and fishing. They promoted advanced research and provided leadership, which helped Mindanao's socioeconomic development.

In 2012, the school was recognized by the Davao City government for its effective initiatives that significantly enhanced the socioeconomic advancement and good standing of Davao City. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Stakeholders' Awards for Region XI were also given to the USeP in the category of Special Recognition for Advocacy Support-Public Information Campaign.


In 2018 and 2019, the university received its awards from the City Government of Davao, the Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for its drug rehabilitation program (Sagop Kinabuhi Program 2, an Extension project). 

USeP has established four core values over the years: unity, stewardship, excellence, and professionalism. It has also identified the institutional graduate attributes, which stand for the traits the university wants to foster in its students throughout their time at the institution. These qualities include the capacity for critical and analytical thought, leadership abilities, a commitment to service, and professional competence.

Top Courses USeP is Known For

USeP is best known for their courses in BS Agriculture, BS Information Technology, and Bachelor of Secondary Education. In January 2016, the university received recognition from the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, Center of Excellence for Agriculture, Center of Development for English Program, Center of Development for Information Technology, and Center of Development for Forestry. USeP is also a Provincial Institute for Agriculture and a National University for Agriculture in Region XI.

How to Apply to University of Southeastern Philippines

To apply as an incoming freshman to one of the University of Southeastern Philippines' undergraduate programs, candidates must first sign up for an online application. Here are the documents needed:

For College Freshmen:

Step 1. Register online at http://register.usep.edu.ph/ and upload scanned copies of the following documents to complete your registration:

  • Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 85% on a permanent record for grade 11.
  • A recent Passport size I.D. picture with a name tag
  • PSA-Authenticated Birth Certificate
  • Income Tax Return (ITR)/Certificate of Low Income of Parents/Guardians

Step 2. To view the application's outcome after seven (7) days from the date of filing, sign in once more to the same registration link. 

  • Download the Permit to Take the Test from the system if you are found to be eligible to take it.
  • Attach a recent Passport size I.D. picture with a name tag.

Step 3. Report to the assigned testing center during the scheduled date and time of the examination.

  • Applicants for admission to the undergraduate programs are advised to constantly monitor the official USeP Website and Official Facebook Page to announce the release of the individual results of the application.

For transferees: 

  • A permanent grade-point average (GPA) in grade 11 of at least 85%
  • A recent Passport size I.D. picture with a name tag

  • Transcript of Records

How Much Tuition and Other Fees Cost at USeP

If you plan to enroll at the University of Southeastern Philippines, there is a P100 registration fee upon enrollment. Be prepared to pay an amount ranging from P14,000 to P20,000 per year in tuition and other fees. 

Famous Alumni at University of Southeastern Philippines

Government officials like Paolo Durterte and Ronald "Bato" Marapon dela Rosa are among the university's well-known political graduates. Another notable alumnus is Randy Halasan, a Filipino teacher who received the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2014.
