Despite a lot of people’s aversion towards math, Accountancy actually remains one of the most popular courses in the Philippines. In an article by Edukasyon.ph published two years ago, business courses, including Accountancy, made it to the top courses in the country with over 900,000 enrollees in 2018.Â
Accounting may be associated with banks, but it’s an essential part of businesses, too. It keeps finances organized and industries running smoothly. It’s also not limited to banks and businesses. College graduates planning to pursue law are in luck with Accountancy as an undergraduate course—the curriculum for Accountancy programs includes subjects in economics and business law, both of which are covered in law school. Other career paths available for Accountancy graduates include being a financial adviser, bookkeeper, government commissioner, fraud auditor, and chief financial officer, among others.
Under the industry of accountancy, there are four different degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System, and Bachelor of Science in Internal Auditing. However, to qualify for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination, students must be coming specifically from the BS Accountancy course.
