This is How Koreans Do PDA
Public Display of Affection (PDA) is quite common to couples in a lot of countries. Holding hands, hugging, and kissing in public are the more common kinds of showing affection to one's significant other. Some couples love doing it—getting lost in each other's world—while others don't. Couples in South Korea, however, have a different way of showing it.
Don't get us wrong: There are still Korean couples who do physical intimacy to show their affection for each other. But the most common (and probably, acceptable) way of showing that they're in a relationship or dating is by wearing matching clothes together! Donning couple outfits (or what the Koreans call the "couple look") is part of their culture. Yep, it's not just a trend in K-dramas but IRL, too! And it's not just limited to clothes, but also with the things they own, like rings, watches, mugs, pillows, and even bed sheets. You name it!
This doesn't come as a surprise since couples are a big deal in their country. They have more than three holidays dedicated to those in relationships, and the cafes even have a "for couples" section in their menu! It's safe to say that it's not a good idea to go to Korea when you're single. LOL!
Kidding aside, their way of PDA is rubbing off on some couples from different parts of the world, including the Philippines. Some find it cute while others find it corny. But at the end of the day, it's not just about wearing matching clothes or looking nice together. It's also a way of telling the world that you're a team.
