With social gatherings being put on hold because of the pandemic, many of us have most likely taken on the exciting, albeit grueling task of transforming our rooms into a space we won't get tired of staying in 24/7. Plus points if it's #aesthetic and always Instagram-ready.
That said, room transformations, no matter how minor or major it may be, don't come cheap. Even with all the monthly sales happening, not everyone can afford to spend on home decor hauls. Still, your budget shouldn't stop you from creating a space you're happy, comfortable, and productive in. The key is to know how to spend your budget wisely and to DIY what you can, just like what this YouTuber did with his room.
Jake Zuniga's room makeover resulted in a Pinterest-worthy space, and the best part is it's a low-budget transformation you can learn from. In a vlog on his channel, Jake shared a tour of his room which featured a bunch of DIY decor and furniture.
For instance, instead of buying new matching furniture, Jake used wallpaper of the same pattern to cover several pieces of furniture such as his cabinet and his side tables to achieve a cohesive look for his room and it costs considerably less.
To decorate his walls, Jake put up a 99-peso brick wallpaper and pinned several Polaroid photos on it. On another side, he DIY-ed a bunch of old picture frames and pasted minimalist prints on them. He also put up a minimalist shelf which he DIY-ed as well using materials that only cost P100. How cool is that?
Additionally, Jake's mirror was a recycled one made by his dad while his chair was reupholstered with a different color to match his room's color scheme.
If comfort and sleep are top priorities for you, then you can opt to allot your budget for that. In Jake's case, he purchased brand new sheets and pillow cases for his bed which he bought from a nearby tiangge. He also bought a cute lamp from the department store and a humidifier for his bedside table.
If you're inspired by his room makeover, Jake also shared a few tipid tips about transforming your own space. You can watch his vlog here:
