This Eating Strategy Will Keep You From Feeling Bloated

Let's get this out of the way: feeling bloated sucks! It's like, one minute you're having a glorious time om-nom-nom-ing your food and the next, you're feeling sick and uncomfortable. It sucks even more when you don't even eat a lot and still end up feeling puffy.
Thankfully, this new approach to eating that focuses on when you eat what you eat can help curb bloating. This is according to Manhattan-based integrative nutritionist Daphne Javitch whose idea suggests to eat salad before the rest of your meal.
"The idea is to eat from light to heavy," she says, explaining that since a salad has raw, water-packed vegetables, it can allow smoother movement in the digestive system and therefore make it easier for heavier food to pass through.
If you're not a fan of lettuce, carrots, bell peppers, cucumber slices, or other hydrating vegetables make great substitutes in aiding a healthy digestion, too.
The next time you can't resist a good buffet (or any food for that matter), make sure to eat salad first and foremost to avoid food coma. (via vogue.com)
