Things to Consider When Packing for a Road Trip

When packing lists tend to get overwhelming, always go back to the basics.

Packing (and unpacking) for a trip can be such a pain in the head especially if you don't know what to bring or when you're doing it at the last minute. Here are some things to consider to make packing for a road trip a lot more organized and bearable.

  1. Number of hours you will be on the road.

This will help you determine the things to bring to make yourself comfortable while in transit, like pillows and blankets, amout of food, change of clothes, games for entertainment, and the like. Bringing additional stuff can be such a drag, but if it's going to be a long trip, it will be worth it. If it's going to be a two- to three-hour drive, you can skip the additional bitbit and sleep the ride away instead.

  1. Number of days you'll be staying.

Knowing the number of days you'll be staying at your destination will help you plan your outfits and gauge how much of them (including toiletries, etc.) you'll need to bring or leave behind. Not exactly packing related, but it'll also be helpful in plotting and scheduling the tasks you need to finish before and right after your trip.

  1. Activities you'll be doing.

When you know your itinerary, it will be easier for you to answer questions like, "Should I bring a swimsuit?" or "Should I pack a pair of heels?" Because if not, you might end up bringing a lot of stuff for your "just in case" scenarios, which you probably won't be able to use anyway.

  1. The weather.

Knowing what the weather is going to be like at your destination will help you plan your outfits, activities, and tours for the day. Forecast shows 50% chance of rain? Maybe you can consider bringing some rain gear or waterproof pouches. It can also allow you some room for making (outfit) back-up plans in case the weather forecast doesn't look reliable.
