LOL, These Are the Sassiest Comebacks to the Proposed 'Vanity Tax'

The Philippines is no stranger to lawmakers who propose ridiculous bills and laws that make people scratch their heads. Just last week, President Rodrigo Duterte, the same person who cursed the pope and called the Catholic Church "hypocritical"declared January as "National Bible Month" a bill proposed by Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

Fast forward to this week, Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe proposed a "Vanity Tax" which imposes a 10% to 30% excise tax on beauty products and services instead of additional fuel tax on petroleum products, claiming it is a "pro-poor" movement. According to GMA News, he said, "Kung talagang mabigat na 'wag ka na mag-makeup, mabubuhay ka naman."

Of course, the Internet had a lot to say. Women, feminists, and makeup lovers all stepped forward and fueled the #DontTaxMyBeauty hashtag to trend. We round up some of the sassiest reactions to the Vanity Tax:
