Social media can be fun, until these things start happening. Read on to find out how to deal with annoying social media sitches as gracefully as possible.
The sitch: Your best friend and her boyfriend are going overboard on online PDA.
How to deal: If they're not really divulging anything private (read: TMI), just hit the hide button if you don't want to see the cheesiness. If you're really bothered, consider talking to your friend about it. But she just has as much freedom to post what she wants on her Wall as you.
The sitch: Your friend shares and actually believes in satirical news websites.
How to deal: Talk to her about it (without making it seem like you're teasing her). Explain to her how satirical websites work and tell her you wouldn't want to have the wrong information going around.
The sitch: Someone's been subtweeting on your feed and you're pretty sure it's for you.
How to deal: You don't. Odds are your reaction is what feeds the hate. You don't need that negativity in your life. If things get out of control, then maybe you can try to directly talk to the person in the most diplomatic way possible. (So timely, after that whole Twitter thing between Taylor and Nicki, ya?)
The sitch: Your mom is tagging you in super embarrassing childhood photos. Eep!
How to deal: Relax, your mom's not on a mission to embarrass you, she's just enjoying technology like you are so let her. If the tagged photos are really making you cringe, just go to your settings and filter your tagged photos. Simple. And no one gets hurt!
The sitch: GAME REQUESTS
How to deal: Facebook actually lets you to block game notifications! Press that little x on the side of the request, click Block [name of app/game], confirm, and those Candy Crush users won't bother you anymore. You're welcome.
