This New Spotify Feature Is Perfect For Music Lovers With Bad Memory

What was missing on the global music behemoth that is Spotify? If you answered lyrics, youāre right. You may know a favorite song by heart, but it wouldāve been nice to sing along to newer songs without having to Google their words.
The music streaming service heard your pleas, and, starting today, July 1, it is rolling out lyrics for all free and premium users in the Philippines. In partnership with Musixmatch, which bills itself as the worldās largest catalogue of song lyrics and translations, the feature allows listeners in-app access to millions of song lyrics in the language in which they are sung.
Users can access the feature just by tapping āLyricsā at the bottom of the āNow Playingā screen when youāre listening to a song in the app.
According to Boon Ken Wong, Spotifyās Asia team lead for Editorial, a lyrics feature has been one of the most requested by Spotify users.
āListeners can now get to know their favorite tracksāand the lyrics behind themāeven better,ā he said. āItās another way Spotify is connecting fans and artists through the music they love.ā
Spotify is launching the lyrics feature in 26 countries, including Spotifyās markets in Southeast Asia. The list of countries includesĆArgentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, El Salvador, Uruguay, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Just for comparison, Apple Music has provided lyrics for its songs from Genius since 2018.
