If you’re having doubts about your college major, you’ve thought about switching courses. To help you decide, ask yourself what’s causing the doubt: Low grades? Lack of heart? These are all valid. Still, you need to give yourself time to see if you’re struggling with just one class/prof, and to ensure that what you’re going through isn’t just a phase.

Check if your interest in another course can be satisfied by joining a related org, taking an elective, or having it as a minor or another major. Talk to your adviser or department head about your thoughts and plans, and research on the new course you want to switch to. Your major doesn’t necessarily have a say in your future career, but it can give you a head start.

That said, there's no harm in looking at potential courses to shift to and conducting some research. Maybe ask fellow students taking that course for some insight, or discuss your thoughts with a person who can give you an objective opinion, like your guidance counselor or a former mentor.
