Being a perfectionist student is exhausting. No matter how many times you tell yourself that it’s *finally* time to take a break, you somehow still end up skimming your exam notes and listing down tomorrow’s to-do list at an ungodly hour. But let’s get one thing straight: Obsessing over your grades non-stop isn’t healthy. Although there’s nothing wrong with wanting to do well in school, it’s never okay to sacrifice your mental well-being for irrational standards. You already know that the road to perfection is paved with countless challenges, so we’re here to offer you some comfort and reassurance.
Ahead, read about seven relatable experiences that grade-conscious students would know all too well:Â
1. You’re a pro at computing for your final grades. You’ve done it so many times now that you can probably do it in your sleep! You also have an Excel worksheet that tracks all your scores automatically to make your predictions as accurate as possible.Â

2. Extra credit is life. You will almost always take every extra credit opportunity to boost your final grade. Even when you feel like you’ve already secured that A, you’ll submit it anyway just in case! After all, it never hurts to score extra brownie points from your instructor.Â
3. You typically lead group projects. Since working with others makes you feel uneasy, you’d prefer to volunteer to take the lead and ensure that every task is completed within the deadline. You’re also extremely picky with groupmates when given the chance to choose your own.Â

4. People always borrow your notes. Come finals week, many of your classmates will flock to your desk and request for your color-coded reviewers, annotated readings, and quiz flashcards. They don’t hesitate to rely on you because your system is just *that* flawless!Â
5. Studying can get frustrating. You’ve cried over thousands of school requirements before, from convoluted readings to lengthy Math equations. Even though getting that perfect score is extremely satisfying, you’d be lying if you denied that the process of getting there was torturous. So when people call you "naturally smart," you automatically correct them and say that you're just masipag.
6. Report card day makes you anxious. You can compute for your grades as much as you want, but you never truly feel 100% convinced until you actually see the final assessment from your teacher.Â

7. You know deep inside that grades don’t really matter at the end of the day. And you’re kind of right, TBH! They may seem important now that you’re still a student, but they’re absolutely not the be-all and end-all in the ~real world.~ So regardless of what your test paper says, don’t forget to pat yourself on the back for working hard and staying consistent.Â
