One of the many perks given to students by their universities is a .edu e-mail account. While it may seem like a major hassle to maintain your personal G-mail and your school e-mail, there are actually several "add-ons" your .edu account holds that can be beneficial to your life as a student. So why not make the most out of this free perk?

Among the most popular perk of a .edu account is the unlimited storage account on Google Drive, up until Google decided to change their policy, which means that storage will no longer be unlimited by 2022. Still, there are other benefits to using your school-issued e-mail, and it varies per school.

Below, we're listing down a few of the perks of a school-issued e-mail from various universities and colleges in the country: 

Ateneo de Manila University

According to COA, among the perks of ADMU students' school e-mail account are: Office 365 access (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), off-campus access to online resources of the school's Rizal Library, free Canva membership, Notion membership, GitHub membership, as well as student discounts on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Skillshare, and Adobe Creative Cloud, to name a few. 


Adamson University

According to the Adamson Computer Engineering Society, the Adamson University e-mail account offers: premium subscription to Canva, free upgrade on Notion, GitHub membership, Microsoft Azure access, unlimited call times on Zoom, Office 365 access, student discounts on platforms like Adobe Creative Cloud and Spotify, and a limited subscription to Coursera.

DLSU students get the following with their school e-mail account: free access to the school's databases including Euromonitor, Statista, and Marketline Advantage, premium Canva account, free access to Coursera, Office 365 access, unlimited hours of calls on Zoom, and premium Grammarly account.

Far Eastern University

According to the FEU IABF Student Council, FEU students' perks are: student discounts for Adobe Creative Cloud, Evernote, Chegg, Spotify, and Apple Music, unlimited use of AutoDesk Sketchbook, AutoCAD, Grammarly, and Basecamp, and a premium Canva account, among others. 

Lyceum of the Philippines University

Through the school's partnership with Microsoft Philippines, LPU students have access to: Office 365 and Microsoft Azure.


Mapua University

According to the Facebook page MAPUwhat, among the perks of their school e-mail are: Office 365 access, student discount for Adobe Creative Cloud, Apple Music, Skillshare, and Spotify, free access to Mapua databases like EBSCO and ScienceDirect, unlimited Zoom meetings, GitHub access, and a six-month free subscription to Amazon Prime, among others.

University of Santo Tomas

Some of the perks of your school-issued e-mail include: access to G Suite for Education, Office 365 access, and access to research databases. The school also has other technology-related perks for its students and faculty, as explained by UST here.

University of the Philippines

According to Gabay Isko, among the perks of a .edu e-mail account are: access to G Suite for Education and Office 365, unlimited meeting time on Zoom, access to UP Integrated Library System, student discounts for Apple Music and Spotify, premium account on Canva, and GitHub access.
