The History of Mindanao State University - Iligan

Dubbed a “center of innovation and technopreneurship,” the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology’s history goes all the way back to 1946 when it was first established as a high school, the Iligan City National High School (ICHS). After a decade, the Bureau of Vocational Education (BEV) had the ICHS renamed the Lanao Technical School.

It was in July 1968 that the Lanao Technical School was adopted into the Mindanao State University (MSU) System, which mandated the integration of different cultural communities. This has provided people of all walks of life with quality, public education.

In March 1975, a reorganization by the Board of Regents occurred which left the Institute the first autonomous unit under the MSU System.

In the years that followed, MSU-IIT has continued to expand and develop on its accreditation. Now, the university has become renowned for its national and international affiliations.

How Much Tuition and Other Fees Cost for the Mindanao State University - Iligan

Upon admission, enrollees must settle a registration fee of P40 to secure their slot. 

According to MSU-IIT’s published statistics, an academic year for domestic students costs approximately P6,900 for 21 units. 

As stated by the Institute’s Office of the Registrar, tuition fees vary according to schools and programs. 

  • College of Engineering: P3,500 per semester
  • College of Arts & Social Sciences: P3,500 per semester
  • College of Science & Mathematics: P3,500 per semester
  • College of Education: P3,500 per semester
  • College of Business Administration & Accountancy: P3,500 per semester
  • School of Computer Studies: P3,500 per semester
  • School of Engineering Technology: P4,800 per semester
  • BS Nursing: P9,000 per semester
  • BS HRM: P9,500 per semester
  • 2-Year (Ladderized) Engineering Technology: P7,500 per semester
  • General Education: P4,800 per semester

  1. Sign up for an account at https://admission.msuiit.edu.ph/ and verify your email address.
  2. After verifying your account, start your application in the portal.


Be ready with an electronic or scanned copy of the following requirements before starting your application:

  • Recent 2x2 ID picture with white background
  • Grade 11 Report Card
  • Grade 12 Report Card
  • Certification from school stating your rank in Grade 11 class (optional)

As a leading university in Mindanao, the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) was named a “Center for Sustainable Polymers”—the first of its kind in the country. Spearheading this leap in the field of science are two of MSU-IIT’s very own alumni, Dr. Arnold C. Alguno and Dr. Ronald P. Bual

Among the notable alumni is Mr. Lope L. Bato, Jr. who became the 67th national president of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Only the 8th Mindanaoan to become PICPA president, he is the first IIT graduate to be elected as such.
