With the age of aesthetic cafés, it's rare to find coffee shops that still have their own library where patrons can grab something to read while sipping on a cup of coffee. What were shelves of books and magazines are slowly being replaced with Instagram-friendly corners.

There's nothing inherently wrong about these visually striking spots—especially if they do actually brew quality coffee. But for the bookworms who look for good coffee and a good read, you can find both at Libro Espresso in Batangas.

Check out Libro Espresso, a library and a coffee shop in Batangas City:

Given the location, needless to say, Libro Espresso serves its own Barako (P79/eight ounces, P89/12 ounces). If Batangas coffee is too strong—as it usually is, they also have other classic brews on the menu such as Americano (P799/eight ounces, P99/12 ounces), Flat White (P99/eight ounces, P119/12 ounces, P139/16 ounces iced), Spanish Latte (P109/eight ounces, P129/12 ounces, P139/16 ounces iced), Caramel Macchiato (P109/eight ounces, P129/12 ounces, P149/16 ounces iced), and more.

For Libro Espresso's dishes and desserts, the price points are definitely more student-friendly with most of the dishes costing P200 or less. There's a Choco and Banana Waffle (P129), Clubhouse Sandwich (P159), Silog Meals (P199), and Baked Macaroni (P149), which all can be paired with something as simple as a Latte (P129/16 oz iced) or Chocolate Java Chip Creamy Frappe (P159/16 ounces).

If there's a book at Libro Espresso for every kind of bookworm, the same can be said about their coffee.  The shelves that occupy the walls of the store are filled with different reading materials of different genres: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and more. In the nonfiction genre, they have several Philippine history books so you can brush up on your El Filibusterismo.

Libro Espresso understands that for most people, reading a book is often more productive in solitude. The café installed multiple reading pods, which stand out in their apple green color, that are meant to be occupied by a person who wants their alone time reading or studying.

When you need a break from reading or studying, Libro Espresso has board games to take your mind off of things and to rest your strained eyes. For those going alone and with no one to play with, the coffee shop has a communal acoustic guitar if you know how to play one.

If it so happens that you're planning an out-of-town beach trip to Batangas, then you can take your road trip break here. Order your usual cup of coffee and order food on the side, then grab something to read while waiting. Take your time here and don't worry about parking fees because it's free.

Libro Espresso is at Unit 3 Phase 2, Prospero Commercial, Batangas.  For more information, check out Libro Espresso's Facebook page.
