JuanBag founder Rachelle Lacanlale's idea started as reusable food delivery containers JuaBox, her entry to innovation competition Plastic SmartCities Hackathon in 2019.

The pandemic put the pilot test run in UST on hold, and as quarantine went on, Rachelle got to thinking about adapting the model to online shopping instead.

"One day I was riding a jeepney lang when I realized: what if we remove all this this bubble wrap, tapes, all these things, boxes, in our packaging. How much plastic would we be able to save and will not go to our landfill?," Lacanlale said.

Today, JuanBag collects online shopping plastic packaging and bubble wrap for free and partners with weaving communities to turn them into reusable bags. Learn more about their story in this #SummitOriginals video below.
