In This Bizarre Fitness Class, Attendees Nap Instead of Working Out

Napping should be part of your fitness routine, according to this gym.

In the normal scheme of things, sleep usually comes before or after working out.

But David Lloyd fitness clubs in the U.K. is introducing a new fitness class: a 45-minute mid-afternoon nap as a form of exercise.

The ambience is spa-like. Instead of upbeat music to match an endorphin high, guests listen to atmospheric sounds for a peaceful nap. There is no exercise equipment in this sleep studio either. Each attendee gets his own single bed.

The "napercise" is made for tired, busy parents who want to make up for lost sleep and improve their long-term wellbeing in the process.

According to a David Lloyd spokesperson, lack of sleep is not a small matter. Those who don't get enough sleep at night may forget to pick up their kids from school and even fall asleep at the wheel.

So why not just check into a hotel for some afternoon rest? Well, the fitness club is kept at a precise temperature that makes the body burn calories, which accounts for the exercise component of the program. This has yet to be confirmed by those who signed up for last weekend's session.

Although some have expressed their doubts about the program via social media, upcoming classes in Sidcup, Kent are already fully booked.

The first of too many stars in the sky. You are the first of too many fallen leaves during fall – and you will be the most anticipated snowflake as winter comes. A dark path that you can’t see without any light, hence, you were once the moon and there are the stars that shine so bright at night. Are we too early? Or we just really want to be ahead of time? Even in a glimpse, I would like to see the two of us connect as if we can reach the sky. There are other parts of the heavens you have never saw and other oceans you haven’t laid your feet onto – but the constellations will always wait for you. Close your eyes, love, close your eyes. Start counting backward: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Count backward until you see the twinkling lights that will guide you to the right path. To the right satellite; to the right person. A first.

There are many firsts – first love, first heartbreak, first sport you played, the first thing you do in the morning, the first thing you remember about the person in front of you. There are a lot. It’s actually up to us how we will consider something as a first. So, Primo, you are already a first of too many.
