From being one of our favorite Disney Channel stars, Selena Gomez has become one of our #goals—not only because she is the most-followed person on Instagram today, but because she got over those body-shamers she faced in the past and inspired women everywhere to love ourselves and be proud of the body we have. This is proof that she has no time for haters and bashers, and would rather focus on positive things.
And one way she does this? By taking care of herself. Byrdie caught up with Sel's trainer Amy Rosoff Davis whom she brought with her during her world tour, and got major tips from her on how Sel transformed her body. Check out some of the things we learned from her below.
1. Build your stamina.
How do you do it? Mix things up! Amy says that "switching it up helps your muscles stay on their toes. When they don't know what move is coming they work harder. Plus, cardio and toning builds both stamina and strong muscles."
2. Listen to your body.
Don't work out too much or push your body beyond its limits, because you're only going to harm it. As Amy said, "Working out, just like life, should be a balance."
3. Don't forget to have fun.
Working out shouldn't be boring and it certainly shouldn't be a burden. According to Amy, the "Hands to Myself" hitmaker loves doing yoga, arm dancing, Pilates, and butt-toning. Switch up your workouts and try routines you enjoy, so it would be easier for you to make exercising a part of your life.
4. Don't weigh yourself.
Just don't hit the weighing scale and check your number. Amy couldn't have said things better: "I am not a fan of weighing yourself. I think it breeds obsessive thoughts and behaviors. If you work out and eat healthy, your body should do the rest! When you have a healthy mind, body, and soul—the results will come." What she suggests? Do the jean test instead and notice how your jeans fit you.
5. Find music you love.
Music can help you work out and make exercising more fun, so let it do those things. Put together your own playlist to encourage you to stay fit.
