As we've learned many, many times before, we've been mispronouncing a ton of beloved brands. Seriously, nothing is ever what it seems anymore. But, we come to you again today with yet another item to that long list of brands we've been saying wrong. We're sorry but it has to be done.

This time, it's a popular pantry staple that we all know well: Nutella. Yes, Nutella, the same majestic hazelnut cocoa spread that goes with just about everything and anything. Recently, the spread has become a common flavor of pastries, desserts, and even... milk tea. So, it definitely pays to know the proper way to say it the next time you order, say, a Wildflour banana Nutella Danish.

It's simple, really. There are only two ways to say Nutella after all. You're either a NUT-ella person or maybe you say it like NOU-tella. The right way, according to Nutella itself, is NOU-tella.

"As Nutella is enjoyed in every corner of the world, there has long been some fun debates on how it should be pronounced," said James Stewart Nutella, marketing director for Ferrero U.K. and Ireland. "Our Nutella team wanted to share how we pronounce the iconic spread's name. We emphasize the 'NOU' in 'NOU-tella,' but we don't mind how our fans decide to pronounce it—the most important thing to us is that you enjoy it."

There you have it. You can say it whichever way you want, but the right pronunciation might come in handy one day when, you know, an aggressive Nutella stan decides to tell you you're saying it wrong. Or, for a Christmas trivia game. We don't know. All we know is this has made us crave Nutella more than ever.
