How to Make a Budget-Friendly Care Package for Friends

When the pandemic left us boxed inside our houses, it made it more complicated to talk and reach out to our friends. The stress from online classes and the ongoing health crisis adds up to the mounting feeling of isolation most students are experiencing. Which is why when you have the chance to do so, try checking up on your friends to ask how they're ~really~ coping amidst all the events 2020 has thrown (so far).
If you have the time and energy, you can also opt to send a care package their way to cheer them up. Student YouTuber Bea Peñaranda did just that. In a vlog, Bea shared how she worked on the boxes themselves and curated the contents to suit her friends' preferences. Think you'd like to try sending one to your barkada? Here are a few tips we picked up from her DIY care package project:
Recycle old materials lying around.
You don't have to buy fancy gift boxes to pull off a thoughtful care package. Bea just took old boxes of chocolate drinks and covered it with leftover construction paper. She also added crepe paper inside the box as padding and extra decor and put in paper pinwheels which she made back when she was in fourth grade.Â
Include personalized notes.
Care packages can also include other forms of love and care, such as the ones expressed through words. Bea filled her care packages with notes. For every item she included, she attached a mini note with a short message.
She personalized the content based on what her friends would like.
Since it was a care package meant to cheer up friends, you have to make sure the content of the box would serve their purpose. For Bea, she baked her friends' favorite cookies which she used to sell in school. She also included copies of books she thinks they'll like. And because school can get challenging, she decided to include tissue in the care package (because why not?).
