Do you ever notice how there are some photos on Instagram that tend to look identical? But you double-tap them anyway because what's not to "heart" about a cup of coffee with the prettiest latte art perfectly captured in a flat lay square, right? We stumbled upon @cayaline's How to Instagram series and couldn't help but nod at how accurate it is. Of course, coming up with your own tricks and techniques in getting that shot is very much welcome but here's a good place to start.

Who is she? My name is Carolin Hohberg, I'm a design student who lives and works in Germany. I'm a big dog lover and when I'm not working on new Instagram guides, I love to hang out with my friends, work out, or cook. My everyday breakfast is a blueberry smoothie. Other than that, I try to do something new every day. Take new roads for example or eat things I haven't tried before. I love wrapping presents.

Why did you start the series? When I signed up to Instagram not too long ago, I noticed that some feeds are really nicely done and I asked myself what makes an Instagram account successful. I wanted to post some of my handwritten quotes and so I looked around to see how successful letterers arranged their pictures. During my little research, I kept stumbling upon the same pictures over and over. My series is not a critique though because I actually love those pictures. They are pretty and they just work. We like them. That's why everybody keeps posting them and that's perfectly fine. At the same time, I love when people try new things and arrange their pictures differently but I guess the "standards" are a good way to start.

What do you love about Instagram? I love Instagram. When I first signed up I was just looking for inspiration and thought I'd stay a passive user. Very soon though I realized that even though it is an anonymous platform, there's a lovely community. People are extremely supportive and positive on Instagram. And there is so much talent out there, it's very inspiring and entertaining to me.
