Calling all Potterheads! In case you haven’t heard, the new Harry Potter game will be released under Portkey Games within the fourth quarter of 2022.Â
Based on what we’ve seen in the official gameplay trailer, Hogwarts Legacy will be an open-world action RPG that introduces you to the wizarding world amidst the late 1800s.Â
You’ll be entering the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a new fifth-year student who can wield ancient, hidden magic. But apart from uncovering the mystery behind this secret ability, you’ll also be carrying out your regular duties as a Hogwarts student.Â
After your sorting ceremony, you can explore the entire Hogwarts Castle bit by bit, from finding the hidden dungeons to lounging in the common rooms. Beyond the campus, you can also visit iconic locations such as the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.Â
Of course, you’ll be required to attend and actively participate in classes, so good luck brewing substances in Potions class and dueling with your classmates in Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons.
You’ll even get the chance to ride your own broom and establish friendships with fellow schoolmates!Â
As you progress through the game’s challenges, you’ll be expected to protect the wizarding community from dark wizards and goblins. And yes—that means you can mix and match all kinds of spells and enchanted weapons to battle powerful enemies and master witchcraft.Â

According to the Hogwarts Legacy’s official website, the single-player game will be available for PlayStation5, PlayStation4, PlayStation4 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC.Â
While we don’t know its exact release date and price at the moment, the website promises a “Holiday 2022” release without any in-game purchases or micro-transactions.Â
