Sushi bake is currently one of Metro Manila's biggest food obsessions amidst the quarantine. The unique dish is basically a deconstructed version of sushi that's baked in a pan or casserole and served with nori sheets. It's eaten by taking a spoonful of the baked sushi and wrapping it in a nori sheet almost like a mini taco. We found another version of the dish you may want to try if you're looking for something a little different: Say hello to Flavor Fusion Corner's Shawarma Bake!
Shawarma Bake is composed of hummus, spiced minced beef, roasted tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers in a pan. It comes with yogurt tahini-garlic and spicy sauces just like standard shawarma wraps or rice meals.
Similar to sushi bake, Shawarma Bake is made to be eaten like mini tacos. Simply take the pita bread served with the dish, scoop up the baked layers in the pan onto the triangular bread, fold it up, and take a bite!
Each order of this satisfying dish comes in an 8"x2" baking dish along with 12 pieces of pita bread. It's good for two to four people, so you can share with your friends or everyone in your household. You can get the whole set for just P339! The large tray, 12"x10", can feed up to 16 people for P1179.
