With the world's increasing dependence on mobile devices comes the corresponding need for accessories that protect and prettify them. Whether we admit it or not, collecting phone cases with cute designs is a habit some of us might unknowingly have, especially since there a lot of cheap but pretty options in the market right now.
We, however, might not be aware of the long-term effects of this seemingly harmless collection. After all, we see phone cases as another way to showcase our personalities. While making DIY phone cases out of old ones is one good way to reuse these products, another option would be to try using eco-friendly and biodegradable alternatives.
While environment-friendly phone cases are a relatively new concept in the country, a number of shops sell these options locally. Some even partner up with organizations that advocate for environmental causes. Take your pick below:
Fili
Established in 2019, Fili offers biodegradable phone cases. For every phone case they sell, the group donates P50 to their tree-planting partners, One Tree Planted and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., in order to plant a tree. They carry cases for iPhones, Samsung phones, and Huawei phones.
Coast also offers eco-friendly phone cases made from plant-based and biodegradable materials. Currently, Coast offers cases for iPhone models only, but they promise to have more cases for other models available in the future. They also have cases available for other Apple products like Airpods and iPads.
The Bamboo Company has a lot of environment-friendly products on their roster, including eco-friendly phone cases made from bamboo. The company hopes to lessen plastic pollution and save marine animals by offering a more sustainable alternative to people's everyday needs.
