This Map Shows Case Distribution Of COVID-19 In NCR

What patterns do you see and where is the 'epicenter' of the epidemic?

A map produced by the Uniervsity of the Philippines and the Department of Science and Technolgy shows hotspots where COVID-19 is most prevalent in Metro Manila. The map was posted on Facebook by biological data scientist Darwin Bandoy.

The map shows a concentration of COVID-19 cases in the center Metro Manila, with concentration of cases seen in Manila, Mandaluyong, Pasay, and San Juan. Despite the seeming density of cases in at the center, Quezon City has the highest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Metro Manila.

As of May 9, the Department of Health has recorded 10,610 cases of COVID-19, with 1,842 recoveries and 704 deaths. Of the 147 new cases recorded on May 9, 84 percent were from the Metro Manila.

As of this writing, the confirmed cases per city in Metro Manila are as follows:

  • Quezon City – 1,524 cases, 348 recoveries, 133 deaths
  • Manila - 876 cases, 141 recoveries, 83 deaths
  • Paranaque – 555 cases, 111 recoveries, 37 deaths
  • Makati – 477 cases, 124 recoveries, 49 deaths
  • Pasig – 402 cases, 122 recoveries, 63 deaths
  • Pasay – 293, 68 recoveries, 24 deaths
  • San Juan – 267 cases, 68 recoveries, 37 deaths
  • Taguig – 215 cases, 26 recoveries, 15 deaths
  • Las Pinas – 206 cases, 53 recoveries, 21 deaths
  • Muntinlupa – 174 cases, 66 recoveries, 23 deaths
  • Valenzuela – 139 cases, 28 recoveries, 8 deaths
  • Marikina – 126 cases, 36 recoveries, 20 deaths
  • Malabon – 70 cases, 21 recoveries, 10 deaths
  • Navotas – 63 cases, 16 recoveries, 17 deaths
  • Pateros – 22 cases, 6 recoveries, 22 deaths
