Many graduates proceed to apply for jobs in private companies locally and abroad, but there are also those who choose to assume roles in the different government agencies in the country. If you're planning on applying for a government job after graduation, here's a little glimpse at what you can expect from the job, salary-wise.
According to data presented by Jobstreet during their recent Virtual Career Fair & Career Tools Launch, here are some of the average incomes of various positions in government agencies across the Philippines:
For admin assistant roles, the average salary in government agencies is at P15,500 in Luzon, and P14,000 in Visayas and Mindanao. The average income of government roles for teachers, on the other hand, is around P26,500 in Luzon, P27,500 in Visayas, and P26,000 in Mindanao. For nurses in government-issued positions, the average salary is at P35,000 in Luzon, and P34,500 in Visayas and Mindanao. The average income of engineers in government positions is at P36,000 in Luzon, P35,000 in Visayas and Mindanao.
If you're interested in applying for government roles, Jobstreet's upcoming Virtual Career Fair in partnership with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) will be focusing on various government job vacancies. The Virtual Career Fair will be held on September 20 to 24 with over 24,000 government job openings being offered in 160 government agencies across the country.
The Virtual Career Fair is also aiming to provide opportunities to thousands of jobless Filipinos looking for a source of income during the pandemic. According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), around 90,000 have been affected by the quarantine restrictions, some of whom have permanently lost their jobs while others have been required to work in flexible arrangements.
Aside from the Virtual Career Fair, Jobstreet also recently launched new features to help jobseekers in their job hunting process. Among the new features are its Career Tools, which includes a helpful Salary Calculator that computes for a particular job's take-home pay based on a given salary amount.
