History of Rizal Technological University
In 1969, the Provincial Board of Rizal and Governor Isidro Rodriguez requested a higher education institution in the Rizal province. Approved by the Secretary of Education, the College of Rizal was founded. Years later, the college changed its name to Rizal Technological University in 1997.
The colleges could no longer get financial support from the Province of Rizal. There were several proposals to save RTC. The worst feasible option was gradually closing the colleges. One was to move the management and administration of the RTC to one of the current municipalities in the Province of Rizal or Metropolitan Manila. However, the college's administration, staff, and student body forbade it. Therefore, they devised a plan for the potential nationalization of the RTC.
Former President Ferdinand Marcos signed the Presidential Decree converting Rizal Technological College into a state college in 1978, and they received the decree on October 13th of the same year.
