If there’s one Gen Z influencer constantly impressing us with her *adulting* journey, it’s definitely Ashley Garcia. She has been a YouTuber for years now, and this allowed her to buy her first car and move out of her family home while still in college. She's our resident independent gal!Â
In a recent vlog, Ashley shared her advice when choosing an apartment to move into, which could be useful to college students who will be living near their universities. With face-to-face classes right around the corner, here are five *helpful* tips when looking for an apartment, according to Ashley Garcia:Â
1. Take advantage of social media.
In this digital age, almost everything can be found online… including a long list of apartment listings you can scour through. According to Ashley, she personally looks for listings on Facebook Marketplace and Google, but you can also check out websites like Lamudi and RentPad for more options.

2. Know your ideal setup.
There are *a lot* of apartment listings available for rent, and you might get overwhelmed if you don’t filter your options. A great way to do this is by deciding how much ~*space*~ you actually need. Will a studio unit be enough? Do you need one bedroom? Maybe more?

3. Prioritize convenience.
Now, location plays a huge factor in choosing an apartment. A pro-tip from Ashley: Choose a place near groceries, laundry shops, and banks. This way, you easily have access to everyday essentials!

4. Review your contract thoroughly.
Like a true ~*adult*~, you always have to make sure that you understand what’s stated in your contract. This is where you’ll know the monthly price of your rent, how your payment will be processed, and more. Don’t forget to read everything through!

5. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
If there’s something you find difficult to understand, you can always ask your landlord or agent. Ashley reiterated how important it is to clarify the specific restrictions, bills, and dues that come with your apartment!
