"Inspiration is everywhere; it's your job to find it. Once you start looking, you'll find inspiration in the most unlikely places: typography on a package of soap, a bus ticket, or an old street sign in your town."

On looking for ideas.

"Creative ideas that seem to appear out of nowhere also disappear just as quickly if you don't jot them down. Keep a notebook with you everywhere you go. "Being aware of how you see things and how you filter them according to your taste will eventually help you discover your style."

Read more tips from Abbey and other guest artists whom she invited to write and share their personal preferences in the book.

Hand Lettering A to Z: A World of Creative Ideas for Drawing and Designing Alphabets is exclusively available at National Book Store for P599.
