It can be costly to go out, in general, especially if you're saving for your upcoming travels. But just because you're on a minimal budget doesn't mean you can't enjoy a fun day out. Sometimes, with the right planning, you can spend almost nothing and still be able to enjoy yourself. Check out these 5 free things you can do in the metro.

 1  Go to the mall.
When you are at a mall, there are plenty of things you can do without having to spend a cent. You can use the free public WiFi most malls have. You can stay in the food court and people watch. You can also just go window shopping and plan your future purchases. If you feel like getting a little snack, supermarkets have free tastes on certain days, so you can sample their products and even have a drink. You can do all this plus enjoy the cool air via free air conditioning.

 2  Catch a movie.
If you happen to like watching movies, visit the UP Film Institute in UP Diliman, Quezon City. It is a great place to go to if you're a fan of Filipino movies, particularly the classics. The UP Film Institute usually screens movies for free every day, so you can just check their website here for more details. If you're not into the classics, you can use this as an opportunity to appreciate the many beautiful films Filipinos produced over the years. Several embassies also offer free film festivals at certain times of the year, like the Korean Film Festival often held at SM Megamall and the Cine Europa Film Festival at Shangri-La Plaza.

 3  Appreciate art.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines' (CCP) art gallery is open to the public for free from Tuesdays to Sundays. The National Museum of the Philippines also offers free entrance every Sunday. If you happen to be a patron of the arts, these are good venues for viewing wonderful pieces of art without having to spend. You can even take your friends with you if you want them to get interested in the art, culture, and history of the Philippines.
