We're all used to seeing Selena Gomez on stage or in front of the camera, but this time around, she's stepping behind the camera to executive produce 13 Reasons Why, a new TV series based on the YA bestselling novel by Jay Asher. It's about a student who commits suicide and leaves 13 explanations why she did it. In a press event for Netflix, Sel shared how she related with the characters and why she thinks it's a must-watch. Below are three reasons why.Â
- It's relatable.
"It's hard but I definitely relate to everything that was going on and I was there for the last episode, I was a mess just seeing it all come to life because I've experienced just that."
- It'll get you hooked.
"Once you start the series, the first few episodes are really captivating, and it starts getting darker as it progresses...I can sit there and watch it over and over again."
- It's a wakeup call for everybody.
"It hits a very important part of me and I think this is what [kids] need to see. They have to see something that's going to shake them. They have to see something that's frightening...I want them to understand it...I would do anything to have a good influence on this generation."
In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the trailer, which Selena posted on her Instagram account.
We can't wait for March 1 to finally see 13 Reasons Why!
