We really have no idea why some people think menstruation is a joke. SRSLY, you guys, it's not. Although it is a part of our regular bodily functions, we still find it difficult to deal with it every single time it comes. So when you go around joking about it and laughing at our pain, it upsets us.
Here, maybe these tweets will make you understand what we're going through even just for a bit.
For starters, even if you have a regular cycle, it still comes when you least expect it.
Which means, washing your undies and bottoms is hard work.
You'll experience physical pain and emotional pain. How's that for a joke?
Having vagina comes with a price—and we're not just talking about tampons and menstruation pads and food (the price of PMS). We're talking about birth control pills and other methods that regulate our hormones, too.
The most difficult (but most fulfilling, too) part? We menstruate while doing the things we normally do—like walk, clean the house, run errands, and study for an exam.
So the next time you joke about menstruation and tell us we should just get over our feelings and continue doing what we're expected to do instead of letting our hormones get the best of us, choose to stay silent instead. You dunno what we're going through.
