Ever experienced coming across a crazy seat sale and badly wanting to book a trip before it vanishes? But then you realize you need to call your family and friends first to know who can join you. After which, you go through the hassle of finding a common schedule for everyone. The easy-peasy solution to that dilemma? Travel alone! Below, the reasons why you should do it at least once in your life.

1. It's invigorating!

From the moment you enter your credit card details to finally booking that trip, you'll probably be grinning from ear to ear. The feeling is inexplicable—like excitement, joy, and fear all rolled into one.

2.  You'll feel like a grown-up.

Traveling with the folks has its perks like free lodging, pocket money, transportation, and air fare. But once you book a trip yourself, you're all alone. You'll learn how to budget money, understand the importance of the exchange rates, and basically take care of yourself. No matter how short the trip is, you'll come home feeling like a more mature, grown woman.

3. You can plan a stress-free itinerary.

Your trip, your rules. You get to wake up as late or as early as you want. You get to discover local boutiques in hidden places and be able to take your time shopping.  The best part is that no one will force you to do things you don’t want to do just to take into account your travel companions.

4. Basically, you'll have total control over your time.

5. You'll make new friends.

When you're alone, you're bound to meet new people—like when you ask for directions, request for help in ordering a dish from a menu in a foreign language, or simply cross paths with a super cute stranger in a bar. Je setting alone will hone your social skills.

6. That said, you'll also learn how to read a map (or Google Maps).

If you still get lost, it's fine. Because more often than not, you'll find yourself in an unexpected place that you'll end up totally loving.

7. You will also have to learn a few basic words in the town's native language to better communicate.

8. You'll see the country or city in a different perspective.

When you're eating, walking, and sight-seeing by yourself, you'll see things you won't even give a second glance at when you're busy chatting or taking OOTDs with friends. You'll notice how totally fashionable lolas and lolos are in Europe, how this young couple were staring into each other's eyes in the park, and even how passionate this French baker was when it comes to his bread. You get to really observe, thus learn more about the culture and the people of the foreign land.

9. You'll learn things about yourself.

You'll discover that you can actually be independent, that you apparently have a thing for big parks, or that you can be patient if you wanted to. It's like tapping into another side of you that’s too busy to come out amid the hustle and bustle of the city.

10. You get to think, like, really think... which will then lead you to getting the answers to the questions you've long been asking.

Most people travel when they're heartbroken, when they need time to rethink life decisions, or even to decide on a major life choice like marriage. Traveling alone can give you that. Reading a book in a nice park, strolling along the beach during sunset, or star gazing on a hammock can all relax your mind and allow you to ponder on things you usually don't have time for.
