OMG, finally! Here's another reason to stay in with your boyfriend and have a movie marathon together instead of going out!
A research from the University of Rochester studied 174 married couples for three years, dividing them into three groups. The first two groups underwent traditional counseling for couples, while the third group was tasked to watch one movie together a week and discuss it after. They were given a list of movies and questions to start their conversations with. (via VerilyMag.com)
The result? Divorce rate is cut by half when couples decide to watch a movie together and discuss the relationships in it. Whoa, isn't this amazing? What surprised them more was how well the movie-watching method worked compared to the counseling sessions.
"The results suggest that husbands and wives have a pretty good sense of what they might be doing right and wrong in their relationships," Ronald Rogge, associate professor of psychology at the University of Rochester and lead author in the study, said.
Now, all you have to do is try this with your babe. You can start with these movies included in the study: Gone with the Wind, Funny Girl, Love Story, and Sweet Home Alabama. You can then talk about how similar your problems as a couple are with them, the movie couple's strong friendship, and if they were able to support each other during bad times.
Aww! Go ahead and let us know what you think of this, Candy Girls! ♥
