It has come to this, Candy Girls. Because there's still much to be done about this patriarchal society and because men just don't get that anything they do to us without our consent is bad, someone came up with an underwear that will help prevent sexual assaults. How? It has a special lock, it can't be pulled down, and it can't be cut with a pair of scissors.
The only way this underwear can be opened is for the owner to do her secret lock movements.
But this product has also gotten a lot of criticism. Some people are concerned about situations where the assailant threatens to take a woman's life if she doesn't take it off. Some people are also thankful for this because in some situations where someone puts a drug on your drink during a party and you pass out, this will surely protect them.
So what do we think? We think this is helpful, but it also makes us think about how bad the world might be today that people have come up with a protection they can wear every day. Isn't it sad when we wear this every day because we're always scared of our safety? While it will surely give someone peace of mind, it's also a reflection of what our society has become, and it makes us a little sad.
