In case you didn't know, it's already 2017 and yet there are still a ton of issues in society that haven't been solved yet. Sometimes, it feels like we're going backwards instead of moving forwards, which is frustrating! Take body-shaming for example. Sadly, people still think that you're not beautiful if you don't conform to society's standards of beauty. This story published on the page FEU Secret Files has reminded us yet again of this problem.
Jerick from Far Eastern University submitted his story about how someone asked him "bakit ang taba-taba ng girlfriend mo?" We couldn't even imagine what goes on in a person's mind to come up with a question like that. Even if it was meant to be a joke (which is worse, actually), it's still not right to joke about a person's weight and their relationship. But we're thankful for people like Jerick who couldn't have responded any better.
"She may not be the sexiest and the most beautiful woman in this world, but in my heart, she is. I don't see how people can be rude to people they don't even know. They all think that the only things that matter are the things that can satisfy their eyes. Well, you can love a person because of their heart, and not because how good-looking they are."
"You judgmental people could try that sometimes, take my word, you'll not end-up wasted and lonely again."
We've said it so many times before, Candy Girls, that your beauty doesn't depend on how you look or that number on the weighing scale. It's who you are inside that matters. We're all different; we have different struggles, talents, skills, looks, and even body shapes. And why does it even matter in life, especially in love? You love people for who they are and for not what they look like or what they can give you. So in case you need a reminder again that you're fine just the way you are, Candy Girls, then this is it.
