We know, we know. We really can't help but hold on to our phones 90% of the time, and we also know this is a habit we should break…especially when we're with someone we love. But this news report will surely keep us from reaching for our phones during a date because a guy just sued the girl he went out with because of it.

All together now: WHAAAT???

According to KVUE, the guy from Austin named Brandon Vezmar met his date via the dating app Bumble. They hit it off and went out on a movie date so they can watch Guardians of the Galaxy together. But, Brandon said, his date opened her phone between 10 to 20 times during the movie. It was bothering him so much that he told her to stop it. (via seventeen.com)

"I said 'listen, your texting is driving me a little nuts' and she said 'I can't not text my friend.' I said 'maybe you can take it outside to the lobby, I've seen people get kicked out movies for this,'" he told the news agency.

His date, of course, went outside the cinema…and never came back. ZOMG! And now he's suing her. But Brandon also said that it's not about getting compensation ($17.31) for the movie tickets he spent, but the "principle is important as Defendant's behavior is a threat to civilized society."

This is getting dramatic, don't you think? We understand the Brandon completely, though, because if we were in his place, we'd surely feel annoyed that our date keeps texting when they should be enjoying the movie…with us.

KVUE got in touch with his date and she gave her side of the story, and she said that she ended the date because "his behavior made me extremely uncomfortable, and I felt I needed to remove myself from the situation for my own safety. He has escalated the situation far past what any mentally healthy person would."

She also said that she's sorry for huring his feelings "to commit so much time and effort into seeking revenge." She also hopes that Brandon can move on from this and have a peaceful life.

As for Brandon, well, he says that he knows just how weird the situation is.

Huhu, we hope these two can talk about this and make peace with each other. As for us? We're definitely keeping our relationships with our smart phones in check.
