Rico and I have known each other since grade school because I was friends with his barkada. However, he and I never really had the chance to talk back then. I left and studied in a different high school and later on, he and I ended up going to the same college. It just so happened that he and I joined the same org, and we became friends because of it.
The thing about Rico is that he's really old school; he started courting me in October and we made things official in December. Before, I used to joke around that I didn't like flowers, so I jokingly suggested that he'd give me one made out of either chicken nuggets or chicken wings. It was honestly just a joke and I didn't think he'd take it seriously!

We like to give each other small and thoughtful gifts, just to remind the other that we're thinking of them. The last time he surprised me was with his pasalubong from his December trip abroad. I had told him not to get me anything so he could spend the money on himself instead, but he surprised me with food for me and my family, and a toy that he and I laughed about. I named the toy 'Nugget,' as it was a private joke between us.
The day he gave the bouquet made of chicken nuggets to me, we were going to a nearby commercial complex since my friend, Eia, wanted to practice her photography with us as models. On the way there, he called me and asked if I could meet with him beforehand because he had something to give me. I immediately thought, "What could Rico be up to?" He loved pulling silly antics, but I couldn't think of what he'd do at that time. The way he surprised me was nothing extravagant, honestly! Haha! On the way to meeting Rico, I ran into Eia, and together, we found Rico by his car. He pulled out the bouquet, and we all burst out laughing. It was such a Rico thing to do!
More than being happy about the nuggets, what really got to me was the effort that he put into creating one all by himself. He told me that he found the materials at home and crafted it himself.
When I posted the tweet, I absolutely had no idea that it would get the reception that it did today. It felt weird to wake up and see my notifications blow up. All the comments have been lovely! It makes me really happy that a lot of people get to see how lucky I am to have Rico as a boyfriend.
What changed after that surprise? Absolutely nothing. We're still the same silly couple as ever!
For Valentine's Day, we're just planning to go on with our usual Tuesday activities (which usually involves studying in the library, haha!) since it falls on a weekday, and I don't like going out on weekdays. Rico says he's got something planned for the weekend after Valentine's Day, but he won't tell me anything about it. I guess I'll have to wait to see what's in store for us.
