Today, peeps of the internet started talking about it again after Lea Michele's breakup with Robert Buckley, whom she dated two months after splitting with Matthew Paetz. (via

It's really hard to say when it's finally okay to date other people after your breakup. Some think that a month or two is too fast. While there are others who think three months is enough time before getting in a relationship with someone, thanks to John Lloyd Cruz's memorable line from One More Chance. But the question still stands, how long should you wait before dating again after ending a relationship?

There are those who have a hard time dealing alone. There are those who believe that the only way to get over your ex is to jump into another relationship. There's also a theory that it is our generation's "inability to wait." Instead of going through the process of healing on our own, we date someone new because we were accustomed to instantaneous gratification. 


No one knows for sure how long one should wait before being in a relationship again after going through a breakup. The answer entirely depends on you. The important thing is to spend some time for and with yourself first, rediscover what truly makes you happy, forgive people, and know how you want to be loved first. Because at the end of the day, the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.
