Bamboo: It’s the first song we recorded for our second album. When we released it, we hadn’t even finished the album yet. It was just basically the song we had right off the bat so releasing it as our first single came automatically.
Why call it “Hallelujah”? Are you devout Catholics?
Nathan: No, definitely not!
Vic: Ang bilis mo sumagot ah!
Bamboo: There’s no specific reason behind the song title. Nagkataon lang.
Who writes your songs?
Bamboo: We all do. We write our songs collectively and get inspiration from random things that happen to us every day.
Have you guys always wanted to be part of a band?
Ira: Yes. I’ve had a passion for music since I was a baby!
Vic: I had a dog (named Jonard) that I used to hit with sticks. At that time, I was broke so I had to find a way to earn money. I got those two sticks I used to hit my dog with and I used them to learn how to play the drums! Jonard died before I became a professional musician, but I wrote a song for him called “ Masaya ”… I’m serious!
What’s a “rock star” myth that you want to bust?
Nathan: We’re not all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll! We’re not devil worshippers either. But listen to our album backwards, and you’ll hear a lot of things!
