We know that if you love someone, you'd want to spend every day close to that person as much as possible–that you dread the day when they have to leave you and live their lives in a far away place.
But according to a 2013 research published in the Journal of Communication by L. Crystal Jiang and Jeffrey T. Hancock, you don't need to fear LDR relationships because they can work! The researchers examined 67 couples who were LDR and those who aren't. They found out that LDR couples are more trusting and felt more intimate with their partners despite the distance. Since they don't really see each other face to face, they have a reason to try harder to connect and communicate affection and intimacy with one another. (via onlinelibrary.wiley.com.)
You see, GenC? If it's done right, you have nothing to fear with an LDR relationship. It just gives you a reason to value your communication and to appreciate more the time you have with the person you love.
