Boys vs Girls
VALUES AND OPINIONS
The Rub: Values and opinions are almost always subjective, but they can be held strongly enough that arguing about them can cause some serious tension. Say one is Catholic, while the other is Buddhist. Or maybe one of you is a hardcore vegan, while the other person's idea of bliss is a juicy rare steak with all the trimmings. Worse, you might love your family, while he may dislike and mistrust his own, as well as all family-type groups and authority figures in general. Values and opinions are important in defining who one is, and challenges to those elements of personality cannot be taken lightly.
The Solution: There's really no easy way out of issues stemming from these. A plain old-fashioned discussion is necessary to get these things out in the open and provide ways to get through these differences. But remember, if a solution requires that you drastically change or sacrifice too much of your own personality to make it work, it might be a better idea to just walk away.
