8 Things Only Girls With Guy Friends Would Understand
Some of us just seem to gel better with guys, perhaps because they're often the ones who can appreciate our weird and quirky antics. With them, there's usually no pressure to tread the waters—the things we share with each other just seem more genuine and natural. While having girl friends does have its certain benefits, in many ways, being friends with the opposite sex can prove to be less of a hassle, and can do us a lot of good in the long run. Each friendship may seem unique, but having guy friends does have its generic pros and cons, and there are certain things in a girl-guy friendship that just make it even more interesting.
- Everybody else thinks that you're sharing a secret romance with one of them.
You always seem to have a hard time convincing your girl friends that there's no romance present in your relationship, and you keep getting "the stare" whenever they see you with one of the guys. Geez, can't a girl deserve platonic love?
- You can't help but feel that maybe "something" IS developing.
The first item may be true, but it doesn’t hold its truth 100% of the time. Too often, you'll reach a moment with one of you guy friends and think—maybe he does have feelings for you...or doesn't he?
- You're constantly explaining girl things.
"What do menstrual cramps feel like, you ask? Imagine the most painful feeling ever. Multiply that by five." Guys always seem to be interested with the things that make us a girl, which is quite odd, but there's absolutely no denying that we are pretty complex beings to understand.
- They forget that you're a girl
There's a certain level of comfort and ease amongst the guys that you're eventually dragged into. They're completely okay with having you in the conversation, even when it involves the manliest things that you just don't want to be a part of.
- Feeling unhappy when they get a girlfriend.
It's not that we don't want them to find someone, but losing one of the guys to a girl can largely affect the barkada dynamics, and that will completely ruin everything. We get jealous too easily, even when we're not entitled to.
- No one is ever good enough for us.
No amount of persuasion is ever enough for us to get a seal of approval from them for the people we like. Just like us, guys tend to be protective when it comes to their friends getting romantically involved, and they can't help but be picky because losing us to someone would mean losing a part of our friendship.
- Liking them, but never being able to tell them.
It's a natural tendency for us to develop feelings for someone we talk to and see on a regular basis. That's just what proximity does. But there's no denying the feeling of annoyance we get when we can't admit our feelings to them. We can't say we like them, because we're too afraid that it will mess up the friendship we've already established.
- They often don't have a filter.
You can count on your guy friends to be honest with you all the time, sometimes even to a brutal extent. Guys are very genuine—most of the time, they say the first thing that pops into their head, and they don't even bother thinking twice about how their words will be perceived.
