When you're moving on and trying to let go of a past love, admit it, you tend to go pretty hard on yourself. You force yourself to get over things fast, setting goals that are a little too impossible, and then beating yourself up whenever you don't get to meet them. But that's why we're here for you, Candy Girls; to remind you that you are getting along just fine.

  1. You don't stalk him as much as you used to. You used to open his pages upon signing in before you even get to checking your own. Now you just look through his profiles once or twice or thrice a day and then you're done with it. You also stopped torturing yourself by looking at all the profiles of the girls who comment on his posts or those whom he exchange flirty conversations with online for the entire world to see—and by world, we mean you.

  2. You're not that drawn to sad things anymore. Since the breakup, you've always been listening to sad songs or watching movies with tragic endings or reading stuff about lost love and heartbreak. Now you're all about learning to love yourself again and standing on your own two feet. You do feel sad and heartbroken once in a while, but you know in your heart that it's not the end of the world. Losing him is not the end of the world.

  3. You're not angry anymore. Your feelings aren't that strong anymore. When you see his face on your feed or when your friends mention him in passing, your heart doesn't beat fast anymore out of anger. You still feel sad when something remotely reminds you of him, but you've long accepted that being mad at him won't change anything at all.

  4. You've forgiven him. It's a choice you have to make for yourself every single day. It's not an easy one to make, but you've decided to stop holding grudges. Even though you know it will take a lot of time to forget, you also know that not forgiving him would be worse as that gives him power over you and your feelings—and you know he doesn't deserve that.

  5. You know in your heart you're going to be fine. There are days when you still cry yourself to sleep or wake up with a dull ache in your chest, when he's the first thing that comes to mind when you open your eyes and your instinct tells you you're going to have it hard with your emotions today. But you get up and give it your all anyway so you can feel fine being on your own again. You're doing your best. You're fighting for yourself. There are still days when your emotions still get the best of you, but you know that someday, one day, things will stop hurting and you're going to be yourself again.
