4 Ways To Know If It's Time To Move On

Because sometimes all you need is a reminder of how much you need to let go.

Going through a breakup is probably one of the hardest things a girl can ever experience. But more than the breakup itself, it's the moving on part that is really the most difficult, and messy, with a lot of ugly crying and ice cream tubs involved. But when does one really know that it's time to move on? Because let's face it, we don't exactly move on right after the break up. There's always that slight glimmer of hope when we choose to hold on than to let go. So to help you know if it's time to move on, we've listed some scenarios that you might experiencing right now that absolutely screams that you should start working on the whole moving on stage.

  1. When you are living in the past.

If you are still living in that tiny little bubble filled with memories–both good and bad–from your past relationship, then it's definitely time to move on. Dwelling and thinking about what happened in the past won't change anything and it will only make you feel tired emotionally. Now that you are single, take this time to start living in the present and think of the future. You may not notice it but living in the past actually robs you of all the enjoyment you can have today. Start setting new goals for yourself, dream big, and learn to love yourself again. Slowly forget what happened. You deserve better, Candy Girl.

  2. When you gave him a lot of chances already.

One more chance? Sure, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. But a second, third,or fourth? If your past relationship was a series of on and off again for whatever reason, there is no doubt that you should let it go. Chances are that whatever he did the last time will occur again. Stop being a martyr and spare yourself from this toxic, emotional, and tiring cycle and move forward. Someday, in the right time, someone will come into your life and treat you how you are supposed to be treated.

  3. When it's doing more harm than good.

Sometimes we just can't help but be emotional and just lay in bed thinking about what went wrong, what you could have done, and all the other what ifs. But doing this only adds more pain and sadness to what you are already experiencing and stops you from feeling good about yourself. Don't indulge in self-pity. Instead of torturing yourself by thinking of all the things you aren't, think of all the wonderful things that you are. Not only will it make you feel better but it will also help you realize your self-worth.

  4. When he's moved on.

Probably one of the more obvious reasons as to why you should move on is because as painful as it might sound, he already has. And why shouldn't you? You deserve to be happy too! Start by accepting the fact that his role in your life has ended. Give yourself some peace of mind and forgive him because to forgive is to move forward. You are going to be fine! Believe in that truth. Get out there and do the things you've always wanted to try but never did. Start learning more about yourself and showing yourself some love because this is a great way to prepare yourself to love again. We know that moving on is hard and might take a long time, but we are sure that someday you will reach the end of the line where you can finally say that you've made it and we will be there cheering you on.
